Spring - Ground-Breaking! Acrylic Resist Etching Workshop March 21 & 22, 2026. 10 am-4 pm
This workshop is designed to explore creative options for several etching techniques including: baking soda aquatint & line bite with Baldwin Black etching ground, toner wash, Litho crayon resist, and marker resist drawing. Two copper plates (using both sides) will accommodate various techniques. The copper plates will be etched in Ferric Chloride acid to create the lines, pits, and grooves that will hold ink below the surface. The inked plate surface is wiped clean, and the image is printed on damp paper when run through the press. Printing variations of your image will be encouraged.
Workshop Fee is $180. Class limit 10. Payment for the workshop and supplies is due the1st day of the workshop.
Supply Fee: $20. For use of studio acid, Baldwin BIG Grounds, etching tools, inks, tarlatan, & paste. Available for purchase at the workshop are: 16 gauge polished copper plates, 4”x6”@ $9.10 each, and 4”x5” @ $7.85 ea. Rives BFK print paper @$6.80 per sheet 250 gsm
